I get the question often, "What's new with you guys?" and honestly, I feel like there isn't much to share, hence the long time between blog posts. Not that I am unhappy with life or that we are all sitting around bored, just nothing noteworthy. But just to keep the blog up to date, I will give a snapshot on recent happenings.
We signed John up for soccer this spring (with Dave as the assistant coach). He gets very excited (and very particular with how he wants to wear his soccer socks, see above) and works had for the first 15 minutes of practice, then he gets tired to where he lays down on the field, or just starts pretending. The first game is this Saturday (at 8 a.m.... yikes!) so that should be interesting.
We continue to look for career oppourtinites outside the AF. Dave has had a few leads, but nothing substantial as of yet. Our commitment is up in December so we have a little time. We would appreciate your prayers on this matter.
Adam continues to be super cute. He is talking a bit more now, and he loves to call for his brother. When he can't see John he will say, "BRA-BA!" meaning "brother." It is so cute. Adam also really loves cars and can always be found with a car in each hand, unless he is holding his milk.
As for Dave and I, if you care to ask, we really enjoy discussing current events, social issues, and issues affecting our Christian faith. Usually at night we end up talking about these kinds of things, which I find really fun. Don't get me wrong, we enjoy the Bachelor (not The Women Tell All... that was just trashy) but I love how we have the same interest in world events.
Here is Spiderman. He shows up at our house often. As does a Marine in the flight suit, a T-1 pilot in a flight suit, a Blue Angel pilot (all six of them), and sometimes just a regular F-18 pilot. Not too many Strike Eagle pilots or WSOs these days. The Blue Angels should be back flying in about two weeks which means very exciting times for our boys.
It continues to be a struggle to get John to sit though a church service. At our church when the kids turn four, they can't be in the nursery anymore and then have to sit through the whole service. This is especially difficult for John, and it makes our Sunday mornings pretty trying. Everyone at church is very supportive, but it is a lot of work for Dave and I. Hopefully in a few months it will be better. I know probably the majority of protestant churches in America have programs for kids during the church service until they get to about middle school age, but many catholic churches don't and I would venture to say the majority of churches worldwide don't have nurseries, so that is encouraging in that John can learn to do what most christian children worldwide have to do each week. That's not to say that if we move to another state/country and have to find a new church, that we wouldn't put him in a children's program. I just say all this knowing that he can do it if we just keep at it.... hopefully :)
That's it from our neck of the woods... just trying to soak up the nice temperatures before the weather turns on us... maybe a month and half left!
Cheers!
