May's memory verse and a CIO update

Oops, I wanted this video at the end of the post but blogger is so temperamental that if I mess with the video to move it around too much, it will probably get deleted. And these videos take forever to upload so I guess we will just have to deal with some disorganization in this post.

Anyway, happy new month everyone! Here is the verse that Dave selected for us to recite to John throughout the month:

Romans 12:12- Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, steadfast in prayer

Thank you all for the prayers and encouragement as we attempted to let John "cry it out" when we put him down for naps and when he woke up in the night. It went SO well. I was really shocked to see how fast John adjusted to not having the pacifier or swaddle. The first day was pretty bad, and poor Dave was here most of the day by himself with the screamer. But the second and third days progressed very well and now we have a much better sleeper on our hands. That is not to say that every nap is good, and I hear from my mommy friends that there will be rough times ahead, but I have so much more hope now that we have seen some fruit from the boundaries we set with John.

It's times like this that I really see God's faithfulness and grace and I want to remember it when we encounter rough times ahead. My mom gave me this beautiful red journal and ever since I got married I decided to use it as a "Faithfulness" journal, to specifically record times that I have seen God answer my prayers. The goal is to look back on it periodically so I can be encouraged and strengthened in faith. However, I have not been so great at recording these episodes of faithfulness like the one we witnessed last week. So if you want to keep me accountable to writing it down, please do.

And last but not least we have a little video clip of John because he is making so many sounds these days. Talking up a storm! We were at his 4 month well-baby check up yesterday and he was just talking and cooing then all of a sudden they gave him his shots and he paused for a moment and screamed! Poor kid. Luckily, dad was right near by and picked him and he was good to go.

Have a great week! Cheers.

I'm glad the cio has helped. Caleb cries it out most of the time before naps and bed. It definitely doesn't take as long as it did at first, but its like he needs to cry in order to fall asleep.

Happy Birthday Month!

I want to know who walked into the room that made John stop and look! Very cute!

Yeah for boundaries...kids need 'em and it really helps with nap time. Now at 20 months, Evie is a champion napper - just grabs her Winks (stuffed elephant) and goes to sleep...even the crying is gone.
