Of course we did all sorts of manly things. After his first nap of the morning it was usually straight to doing some push ups-girls tell John this is tummy time, but we know that it's manly push-up time. We would then down his protein drink and make manly burps. Of course we watched sports, in particular the NFL draft and cheered the Giants picks while jeering the Eagles, Cowboys, and Redskins every chance we had. Also we worked on some hand eye coordination with such events as tug of war (with his teething rings) and also a device I introduced to him called Playstation 2. He will kick any other 4 month olds butt in Madden (see below). So in general guy time was a huge success, there was definite male bonding.

Guy Stuff
This week, Mom (aka Kate) had to go to class and get some Masters studying on, so John and I were left to our own devices. Finally, four days of guy time, doing guy stuff. Seriously, think about it, think of all the wives social coffees, baby showers, and girly conversations he has been forced to take part in during these past 13 months (9 months in the womb nice and warm, 4 months outside in chilly England). So some sustained guy time is just what was needed.

As pictured below John did spend a little bit of guy time hugging teddy bears as well. He has his Uncle Jason to thank for his new friend. I think really though he was imagining wrestling a real bear in the forest and not actually "hugging" it. You be the judge.
One final thing that we did was walk around town on Saturday. It was 71 degrees! John loved being around Town Centre, and looking for books at the bookshop.
Although we had awesome guy time I think we are both very relieved that Mom is done with her class, and back at home. Kate did awesome this week, and her presentation got rave reviews from her teacher. John's lucky to have such a smart Mom, and even though he had some fun guy time he missed her a lot. There is lots more guy time to be had in the future.

Dave I would expect nothing less from you as a father! I love reading your blog and getting caught up on you guys, John is getting so big! Maybe sometime before he's off to Kindergarten our paths will cross and I'll get to meet him :) -Gretchen
Dave - You crack me up! Glad to hear that you and John were able to share some male bonding time.
No doubt, he definitely looks like he's wrestling the bear. Very manly.
As for the video games, you need to put away Madden and break out Blades of Steel. John needs to learn how to cross-check in 8-bit resolution.
