Zoo day and facebook

Grandma and Grandpa are in town so we decided to take John out to a nearby zoo. The rain held off just long enough for us to enjoy all the different animals. It was fun to introduce John to all these creatures, although he was more interested in staring at the other kids than looking at the animals.

And now for a non-kid related topic: Facebook. What is going on with this crazy phenomenon? I have been bombarded with folks telling me to get on facebook. Not that I am trying to say that I am so popular or something, but I think people realize that Dave and I may be the only two members of our generation who aren't on Facebook. People, I have to tell you that if I got on facebook, no one would ever see me because I would be constantly on that addictive site trying to locate my best friend from seventh grade's grandmother's cousin or someone else like that. I love to network so that would be the death of me. Also, don't you think that is natural for some friendships to fade with time? Do I really need to reconnect with my first boyfriend or my cross country team from ninth grade? hmmmm.....

Cheers

kate, i LOVE facebook!!! it's actually not as demanding as you think--it's really what you make of it. i have reconnected with "old" friends, as well as a lot of friends we met through the military who have since moved on to other bases. it's a great way to keep in touch with anyone really! :)

also, that looks like the banham zoo! i've been there twice with my kinder class. so fun!!!

kate, just give in to peer pressure and get on facebook! i added some people i met at a San Antonio GBS Alumni thing...it's kinda a cool way to "keep people in your back pocket" for networking...never know when you'll be in San Fransisco and need a recommendation for a great seafood place!

Kate,

there are so many reasons I love and appreciate you. Your facebook abstinence just added another one.

Kate- I finally gave into my friends (and my students too) and made a facebook page over the summer. I probably won't check t more than once a week or so during school year but during the summer, it was a really efficent way for me and my friends to stay in touch. its fun if you have time but can just be a helpful thing if you don't.
