It's March!

It's March and that means several things:
  • I'm done with my internship (thank you UNM!)
  • I'm done with my comprehensive exams
  • John is done with his stint in child care... it was a great experience for him and for me. He is now a pro at using a spoon, drinking from an open-mouth cup and knowing all his major body parts (for some reason when we ask him where is kidney is he still hasn't mastered that one)
  • oh yeah.... and the most important thing is that I am done with my Masters degree! Thank you for everyone who prayed for me and encouraged me. I could not have done it without the extraordinary amount of help from so many people.
Also since it is now the month of March we need a new memory verse. I was reading through Psalm 145 the other day as it is one of my favorites. I selected Psalm 145:8-9 to be our verse of the month:

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.

I love this verse because it is a clear and straightforward statement about the character of God. But the main thing that drew me to this verse for the month is that I want my life to reflect that this is the nature of my God. When people hear me talk or see me in action, I want them to deduce that the God I serve is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love because that is the nature of my character. I so often fall short of this, and I know that I cannot act this way without the power of the Holy Spirit in my life, but daily I (and John hopefully when he is able to understand) can lay my life before God and ask Him to mold me into a compassionate person so people can clearly observe God's amazing character through me.

Here is a picture of John in his happy place. He is front of the front-loading dryer, cracker in hand, with his push-toy full of balloons nearby. It doesn't get much better than this... except when Daddy is home. Cheers!

We wish we could have gotten together with you guys in NM- we'll have to plan it again for the next time we're both in town!
