The First Week

Well we made it through the first week with a newborn and a two-year-old. Dave has had the week off and has been a huge help. John has also really been great. You can tell he misses being the center of attention but Dave has done a great job of playing with him and making him feel special. So far Adam is a great eater and a pretty good sleeper... we are working on getting him to sleep when I am done feeding him at night.

Dave starts working again tomorrow, but my mom will be here in a few hours and she is staying for the whole week. We will appreciate her help I am sure. After Memorial Day I will be on my own.

Latest bits and bobs:

  • We have had some great people from the squadron and from church who have brought us many nice meals and desserts. I am so thankful for this because dinner time tends to get a little crazy with both boys.
  • I took Adam to his two day appointment and he had already regained his birthweight! I am so thankful for what a good eater he has been. John was not a good eater initially and it caused a lot of stress. So far so good with Adam.
  • I spoke to my doctor his week and he told me he thinks I set the record for express labors. The nurse who saw me for Adam's two day appointment was very surprised that I only had to push for four minutes. I still can't believe how everything with Adam's birth transpired. But I can't really take credit because it is not like I had anything to do with it... but I do wonder if all my workouts on the elliptical machine (including the day I went into labor) had anything to do with it...
  • My 30th birthday was this past Monday and the day was low-key but special. We went out to my favorite lunch place here which was a treat. I also received a lot of nice flowers and many phone calls which made my day. It is funny to think that when I turned 20 I was just finishing my sophomore year of college, and when I turned 30 I just gave birth to my second son. Of course the 20s are big life-changing years for everyone, and it is fun to look back but I am glad I don't have to re-live them. I am happy to be 30 and look forward to the next decade.
Cheers!

Cheers!

Wow, what a great first week! Sounds like you're a pro at being a mom of two :) Happy 30th birthday!
