It will be a long time before we forget what happened this week. We almost lost one of John's best friends here due to an accident in the pool. The little girl above is named Charis (pronounced "Care-is" which is Greek for "grace") and she has three other sisters who have all become John's favorite playmates. Charis and her family live in a condo complex with a nice pool overlooking the bay. On Tuesday Charis's mom Kristin was taking all four girls swimming and at one point she turned to answer a question from Charis's 5-year-old sister. When Kristin turned around, she saw Charis's body at the bottom of the pool. She quickly pulled her out of the pool, and upon seeing that Charis had turned grey, began calling for help and doing CPR. For awhile Charis did not respond. Kristin thought to press on Charis's stomach, and upon doing so a lot of water gushed out and Charis began making squeaking sounds. Kristin continued CPR and after a bit Charis vomited and began to respond to the CPR. An ambulance arrived and soon called for a Life Flight helicopter. They flew her to a hospital where she stayed the night and was released the next morning.
Interestingly enough, John and I were driving right by their condo complex the time and the road was blocked because of the firetrucks and ambulances there. So as we were stopped, I looked over and saw the helicopter and the stretcher with Charis on it. I told John we needed to pray for whoever it was because they obviously needed help. Little did we know that it was our good friends right there.
Thankfully all is well and the picture above was taken the day after the accident. Please make sure you know what to do in case this happens to someone who is with you in the pool. I just googled the CPR procedure so I could refresh myself, as well as the infant choking procedure.
We are so grateful to God who hears our cry and saves us!
Above is the picture of our little smiley guy! And you know what makes him smile most? His dad and his brother. I love it!
Cheers!

What an amazing story-I am so relieved that it ended well!
Oh how scary!!! Thank God all ended well!
Thanks Kate, for writing that down. And give John a big hug for praying!
How terrifying! Thank God she is okay!
Adam is so precious and I love his new photo :)
Thanks for opening our eyes to this story. God is so amazing. Most bases have CPR and Infant CPR classes that are offered through the Red Cross. It's an all day class and is around $80. Some bases give tuition for the class so it turns out to be free.
