New Mexico 2010

Well hello long lost blogger friends. Sorry for the lack of posts. Sometimes I feel like I don't want to blog anymore, but I can never really give it up as I love to read other people's blogs and hopefully someone enjoys reading mine. Me and the boys (the little boys) traveled to New Mexico last week and while I was there, I met someone who has followed my blog since its inception but whom I had never met (she is one of my friend Michelle's friends). It was crazy because when I met her she told me she knew all about me. I didn't find it weird since she is Michelle's close friend, and I have other friends whose blogs I follow that I have never met, so it is all good. I still won't post our last name, pics of our house, or any other personal details so hopefully that will give us a bit of protection.

Anyway, before I talk about my trip to NM I want to post a fun picture of John. Our squadron's playgroup went on a visit to the Fire Station today and he was euphoric. As you can tell he was having the best time driving the fire truck. The fireman asked where he was driving to, and he said, "Africa." Dave was proud.

So yes, I am a brave woman traveling by myself with the two boys to NM. Let's just say the traveling didn't go very smoothly but we survived. Many fellow travelers were very helpful to me, which was a blessing. And it was great to see my parents when we finally got to ABQ. John had a great time being spoiled by grandparents. Adam was very cranky the whole time we were there which was disapointing (I can never spell that word) because I felt like no one go to see the real, sweet Adam. But tonight as I was getting him ready for bed, I noticed that his two bottom teeth have appeared so I guess he was in a lot of pain last week, in addition to being in a new place.

The highlight of the trip for me was getting to spend time with my best friend Michelle and her daughter Mikayla (above, I didn't get a great picture of her). Michelle and I go way back. When I first really dedicated my life to the Lord (14 yrs old) I began going to a baptist church with my friend Jamie, but Jamie began to ditch me to hang out with other people. So there I was, a teenager without any friends at this new, big church. Michelle noticed I was alone and invited me to sit with her. We talked and it turned out she lived just a few houses down from me. From there we became really good friends and have continued our friendship. I will never forget her kindness she showed to me when I was alone, and I hope that I can show that kind of friendship to others.

Now we are both grown and her daughter Mikayla is three weeks older than John so they have a great time playing with each other. And what a joy it is for Michelle and I to see our kids develop a friendship. Thank you God for this great work in our lives!

Here is a picture of John and Mikayla when they were babies.

We took a lunchtime visit to my mom's office at UNM and John posed with Lobo Louie and Lobo Lucy. My mom had a bunch of people come in for a green chile pizza lunch so all her friends could see us. My mom also watched the boys a lot at night so I could go shopping... lovely.

My dad with Adam. My dad took sometime off of work to take John to the zoo for the day. John had a blast. He also loved playing outside with my dad.

Cheering on the Buckeyes at the sportsbar. John loved the festive atmosphere of my dad's Ohio State group. I love it too.

I just love NM. I really do. I love the culture, the mountains, the huge skies... it is just so great.

Before I go I just want to post a quick hip update. Thank you everyone for your prayers and for asking me about it. I got the results from my MRI and they found (drum roll)..... nothing. Nothing abnormal at all. It is frustrating for me as I have some very real pain that no one can identify. So I am going to switch my health care to Tricare Standard in hopes that I can find some sports medicine doctors in the area that may be able to help. Your prayers for a diagnosis, healing, and a good attitude are appreciated. Thank you friends.

Cheers!

Please keep blogging. I can't always make the phone calls like I would prefer to do so it's nice to get an update while still getting a dose of your humor in your blog.
Are those real squashes in the picture with Mikayla and John as babies? Those things are huge!
