After talking with one of my friends (thanks Ashlee!) I have decided to stop the solids for a week or so and then give it a go again. We started John on solids at about six months and one week, and he took right too it. I have a feeling that Adam will be different. My friend Ashlee said she did the Baby Lead Weaning with her son and had a good experience. Has anyone else done that? When I researched it, it seemed like a really good plan. I have to say that I did not like the whole spoon-feeding thing when John was young, so I think Baby Lead Weaning sounds great! I may have to convince Dave though.
As you know John wanted to be Woody for Halloween. We went to our church's Fall Festival tonight and discovered that one of his good friends there decided to be Jessie! So fun. So we took a lot of pictures, none of which turned out really well for me. Oh well. You get the idea.
You may remember my post on potty training awhile back. We started and stopped that. We would like to start it again because we are SO ready and we just feel like John is lazy about the whole thing. He thinks life is too fun to stop and go to the bathroom, so why not just go in your diaper? It is so hard to know when the time is right. Is he really not ready? I don't know.
Some other thoughts:
- I totally understand why some folks don't like Halloween, and I respect that. But I have to say that I am just loving it this year. I love dressing John up, I love all the cheesy decorations in the neighborhood, and I think it is so neat that one night a year, kids can go to people and get candy. It is so fun!
- The Office is pretty funny this season. We have also been watching The Event but we think it is just so-so.
- We were able to get a date night on Friday which was much needed. We went to a little hole-in-the-wall Indian place and we got our butts thoroughly kicked by the spices in the dishes. FYI don't order medium spiced things at an authentic Indian restaurant unless you want to sweat to death. We thought it was so cold in the restaurant when we got there and then we realized why when we started to sweat.
- We have found a little turtle that lives in our backyard. I asked John what we should name it and he replied "Emily Elizabeth." That is the name of the girl who owns Clifford the Big Red Dog. So we find Emily Elizabeth in the backyard on a regular basis. I am trying to teach John to be gentle with her but it is a work in progress.
- I am officially enrolled in Tricare Standard and I have an appointment with a civilian sports medicine doctor on Monday. I don't have my hopes up as this has been such a long process but I do hope that I receive some kind of encouragement from this doctor. The Naval Hospital radiology department was so very helpful when I went to them to get all my records. They burned all the x-ray and MRI images onto a CD so I can take them to all my new doctors. THANKS!
Cheers!

Love the bib! Praying for answers for you and your hip. I wish, too, that someone would tell me 'Now is the time to potty train Caroline and it will be successful' but that has not yet happened :)
Love the Woody outfit! Adam is just changing so quickly in his looks everytime I see a pic of him...
I love the new photos! Hang in there, both the solids and potty training will come with time. As my friend who has 5 boys often reminds, me, you never see adults who have to wear diapers or who can't eat solids (save for unusual medical conditions). So true! We did a modified version of Baby Led Weaning. Basically let him eat some smaller chunks on his own and spoon fed a bit too. I always hated the slop on the spoon too, though, so it wasn't hard to convince me to try something new this time around!
Emily Elizabeth the Turtle -ha! Emily Watson's middle name is Elisabeth, and she has a big red dog. FYI. Will and I think that's really cool.
