The First Party

This is the busiest time of the year for us, and not just because it is Christmas. Our anniversary is December 19 (7 years!!) and John's birthday is December 23. So today we had a joint party for John and his friend Colt as they are both turning 4 years old. We wanted to have all the squadron buddies together (20 kids!). I hosted this year as Colt's mom, Jenn, hosted last year, and it sure worked out well that I hosted because Jenn found out yesterday that she had to get tubes put in Colt's baby brother's ears this morning! So it was kind of a crazy day for them.

We will have a party with the neighborhood kids on December 23, his actual birthday. I really like that we can celebrate his special day so many times. Here are a few reasons why:

• We never did a party for him on his first birthday so I think I will always feel a little bad about that
• Since his birthday is so close to Christmas we want to make sure he always feels special
• Hopefully this one doesn't sound too cheesy, but I think birthdays (any kid's birthday) is so special because there are many kids who don't make it to their first, second, third or fourth birthday. I am very aware of this fact so I love to celebrate any child's birthday. It is very special.
