This Boy's Life

We hope you are enjoying your January. Here are some snapshots from late:

I think John is an official Blue Angel stalker... he knows most of their names and pretends to be them. Our squadron commander lives next door to #1 so they are going to see if they can get us some VIP seats for one of the practices this spring/summer. Hopefully it works out!

Found Dad's patch stash.... this kept them both occupied for the better part of two days.

You are looking at a 747 airplane according to John... although three minutes prior it was "China's Wall" (a.k.a. the Great Wall of China). I enjoy seeing his four-year-old mind create different things. It's a good thing because I am not that creative!!

Here he is explaining to me how to fly a 747. Apparently it is pretty easy. Not sure why someone would need to go through school for it :)

Other bits and bobs:
  • I just joined pinterest, mainly to get new recipes. I don't find it that addicting, probably because I am not really a crafty person. But I can see how it is possible to spend a lot of time there. I feel there is such a battle for my time when it comes to the internet.... there is so much to read, see, communicate, etc. How do you set good limits? I would be interested to know.
  • As we talk about how cool it is to fly Blue Angels, F-15s, etc, I have been trying to tell John that no matter how cool the airplanes are, the coolest thing is knowing God and having Him as the king of your heart. I am not sure how much his four-year-old brain understands that concept, but I figure it is good to begin weaving that into our conversations. Sometimes when he is in a bad mood he will be doing something and then say, "Mom, this is cooler than God" just to make me mad :)
  • Dave is super nervous as the Giants are in the Superbowl this weekend. He doesn't even really want to talk about it he is so nervous.
  • Adam's three loves right now are mommy, Elmo and fruit snacks. It is a pretty simple life for him!
Cheers!

I've heard a lot of people like Pinterest. One of the mom's in the class organized a craft day for all the kids to make V-day gifts. One that I did with Elynn that was super easy was tracing both her hands, cutting it out, and taking a piece of yarn that is the distance between her two hand and attaching her hands to the ends of the yarn. The idea behind the craft is to send a "hug" from your child to a grandparent or friend. I thought the idea was super cute yet simple. This is just in case you get tired of cooking :)

Love your posts as always Kate! Laughing out loud. I'm on Pinterest...you should follow me. I'm with you...I can barely keep up with all this online time. It feels like one more thing I need to fit in during the day. I mostly get on it when I'm vegging in front of the TV and I've limited my page only to friends...I don't follow anyone but people I know so it limits what pops up on the home page.
