Well we made it into our house! We moved in on November 7th. However, we just got internet hooked up today... crazy story of how they canceled our BT order so we had to wait an additional week to get hooked up. Thankfully Dave went out and got us some phones so we were somewhat connected. Though out here we get 3G coverage in bits and spirts so that can make doing things on the internet a bit hard. But all that is past so we are hooked up and ready to go. I have a to-do list a mile long of things I need to do online but I have these three small creatures in the house that make it a tad difficult to get anything done. We are still awaiting the boys' school placement (that was supposed to happen today but we never heard from them) so I am continuing to put together some basic homeschooling each day. By the end of this week John will have been out of school for two months so I am just itching to get him back in. It will also provide a routine for us and enable me to get things done. Our main shipment of household goods arrives on Friday, and I can tell you that our house will be a complete disaster for weeks if these kids don't start school soon!! I keep thinking of our good friends the Warings who have nine kids, all homeschooled, throughout all their military moves. How did they ever unpack anything?
The house is extra warm so I am very thankful. When we got this job I began praying that God would provide a comfortable house for us, and i feel like this place is it. There isn't a ton of soundproofing inside (we have three levels and it is amazing how the sound travels) but beyond that, things are good. Oh except the third floor shower began leaking and now there is a huge water stain on the second floor bathroom roof. Otherwise things are good. We are doing okay with our loaner furniture but we will welcome our regular stuff on Friday.
We have "church shopped" a bit but we think we will be going back to the old church we used to go to when we first moved to England. It is fun on many levels to be back there. Such faithful preaching and fellowship.
For any old Lakenheath friends who are following my blog, it is fun to be back in the same place again. In many ways it feels like nothing has changed. Seeing familiar faces at church, Cambridge still looking the same, still the same insanely long lines at the Lakenheath gas station (in the freezing wind). We sure to miss Bury but we are happy to be in a village with a street full of children the same ages as ours. Thank you Lord.
Here are some pics from my new phone. How fun to have good pictures on my phone! Funny side note: when dave went to get me my phone, the lady asked if I wanted to download my contacts and info to my new phone. He told her that I didn't have a smart phone before and she was like, "Oh wow, in 2014 no smartphone??" ha! yes.
