Scotland

We were fortunate to be able to spend last week in Scotland. We had both never been up there before so we booked a cottage in a town called Strontian, about 2 hours north of Glasgow, in the west highlands on the shore of Loch Sunart. We were hoping and praying for good weather as that part of the county is known for its frequent rain. Thankfully, God provided several sunny days, one of which was the hottest day of the year for that area!

Here are the boys on Hadrian's wall. It was a wall that marked the border of England and Scotland that was made by the Roman Emperor Hadrian back in the 2nd century.

Walking near Glen Coe. We loved the tall, barren hills. It was very striking scenery... much different from Cambridgeshire (the "Iowa of England" as Dave calls it).

This is the side view of our cottage. It was very nice with lots of amenities for kids.

The view from our living room. The rainbows here were probably the most vivid I have ever seen.

The climbing frame next to the house. The landscaping was very nice.

We took a trip up to Loch Ness, complete with a long hike and search for the monster. No luck! It was a very beautiful Loch though. We did watch a documentary on the monster and it was really interesting to see how different social trends correlated with the number of sightings during a period of a few years.

Picking wild raspberries. Adam especially loved this.

We went to the beach on the warmest day of the year (75 degrees)! The view was beautiful but the water was frigid. Most people who got in were in wet suits. John braved it a few times but didn't last long. The road to get to this remote beach was so skinny and curvy that I got car sick on the way home.

Hiking with dad. She loved it!

It was a nice break before the school year began. We definitely recommend that area of the UK if you are ever able to visit. Cheers!

Love your pics! I do not miss England's curvy roads, for the same reason!
