2 Timothy 1:7- For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.
I am now trying to make the verses appropriate an issue effecting either John or our family. The above verse is appropriate in that this month our whole family need not fear the upcoming move since God is in control of all the details. Also, John is now whining frequently and occasionally hitting people or things when he doesn't get his way. So we want him to remember that God has not given him a spirit of hate (as demonstrated in hitting things) but a spirit of love and also a spirit of a sound mind. Instead of getting frustrated and angry all the time, we aim to instruct him in receiving the sound spirit that God has promised him. Yes these principles are over the head of a 17-month-old but they can still guide our parenting style.
What a great God we serve who gives us the power to love and to have a peaceful mind in the midst of life's craziness.
Cheers!
