My diploma arrived the other day. John was pretty impressed with the seal on the bottom. The really exciting news is that Dave is also working on a Masters program from the same school! He is into his second class at this point and he has one of the professors that I had for two of my classes. I guess John is destined to be a Sooner.


Since it is September we have selected a new memory verse for the month. Though we are only memorizing verse 15, I think it is helpful to share the whole context:

Zechariah 8:14-17: This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Just as I had determined to bring disaster upon you and showed no pity when your fathers angered me," says the LORD Almighty, ¹⁵ "so now I have determined to do good again to Jerusalem and Judah. Do not be afraid. ¹⁶ These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts; ¹⁷ do not plot evil against your neighbor, and do not love to swear falsely. I hate all this," declares the LORD.

I feel verse 15 says that because of Christ, God is determined to do good to the believer just as he was determined to do good to Jerusalem and Judah, therefore we are not to be afraid. I love that He doesn't just think good thoughts about us or hope for the best for us, He is determined to do good, therefore we will not fear. What a great God.
