Two weeks later I think it is official.... John is potty trained! Above is a picture of him with his reward, a "big Buzz Lightyear toy" (that is what he calls it in a very excited tone of voice). It wasn't easy but as I look back, wasn't as hard as it could have been. The first week was the worst but the second week was not so bad.
I decided to start training him on a whim one Friday afternoon two weeks ago (without consulting with Dave, which I regret because it was a lot of time and energy that he wasn't prepared for). At the end of the following day, we had packed John so full of juice and candy (rewards) that he threw up during dinner. Fun! But beyond that it progressed pretty well. I am pretty confident that we will be accident free when we leave the house now which is great. I know there will be some accidents ahead now and then, but I think he is pretty estabilished.
I am a pretty "black and white" person, and potty-training is all sorts of gray. Therefore, it is challenging to know how to proceed because it really is different for every kid and every family situation. God used this time to help me be content in a shade of gray. I am thankful that our shade of gray is now pretty much white!
Special thanks to Kristin, Dori and Missy for their coaching and encouragement!
Cheers! And Happy Thanksgiving!

That's great! I meant to ask when we talked the other day. Go John!
YEAH for John!I am so happy for you! Great job, Kate! Oh, you will love this...Emily still refuses to poop in the potty. It really scares her, so I don't force the issue. :)
YAY! Happy Thanksgiving to yall as well :)
