Oh John!

"Oh John!" is what we find ourselves saying so much these days. Here is a peek into his world:
  • John loves girls, especially older girls ages 7-9. He develops crushes on them (I had no idea it could happen so early). His main love interest is an 8-year-old girl named Madison who attends our church. He talks about her all day (no exaggeration), pretends she is here doing things with him, etc. He gets himself all worked up about her all week, but then when we go to church to see her, he gets stage fright. A few weeks ago she popped into the nursery and John wasn't expecting to see her and he started crying, screaming and running to find me. Last week she walked into the nursery again after church, and poor John had just put two animal crackers in his mouth. She said hi to him, but his mouth was so full he couldn't say hi back and he started to cry and say he wanted to go home. Poor kid!
  • John is so outgoing. He loves to talk to people and is not shy at all (except around Madison). He will frequently say to someone passing by "What is your name?" or "How old are you?" or "Do you see that Ford Mustang over there?" We had a contractor here last week installing new tile in our bathrooms. John talked his ear off and I kept having to tell John to let him do his job. The contractor's name was Scott and if you are a fan of the show "The Office" you may remember an episode where they sing a jungle that goes, "hey Mr. Scott! Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do, make our dreams come true!" I mistakenly got that in my head and John overheard me sing it to myself and then he began serendaing the contractor with it for the next three days. I was so embarrassed. Scott took it well and I am sure he was happy to know that he could, "make our dreams come true."
  • This past month things have really improved in John's behavior toward Adam. Thanks for all your prayers and advise.
  • John also loves to watch Jennifer Lopez on American Idol. He thinks she is very pretty. Last week he got up from watching the show, pulled over his easel and started drawing on it saying, "Jennifer look! I am drawing a picture for you!" I don't blame him, she still looks great.
  • John talks up a storm but still has (from what I can tell) several speech impediments. We are headed to the speech therapist this week for another evaluation.
  • Lastly, I am proud of him for really taking an interest in writing his letters. He can write his name now (in three-year-old format) and he is trying to write other letters too, some more successfully than others.
Cheers!

I am so glad to hear he has a crush because Mikayla has a crush on Coach Nick (one of Matt's players who is also her junior toppers coach)and I did not know if that was normal. She always talks about him. It starts so young!!!

LOL! Adam totally had crushes on girls too (and still does)...same age category. So funny! Zach on the other hand shows no interest in girls at all. They are so different. Love all the stories. Keep 'em coming. Miss you guys!
