In case you didn't know, I am an only child. I am very excited now to have two children. I must say that since I am an only child, it is fascinating to see the dynamics that occur between our two kids. Since I never experienced anything like this myself, I find that I am in awe (in both good and bad ways) of how things are transpiring. How wonderful that they will always have each other (God-willing). What will their relationship be like over the years? Will they be best friends, as we pray each day that they will be? Will they be really close when they are adults? Will Adam beat the heck out of John when he gets older as a payback for all John's bullying?
Speaking of bullying, I mean it is crazy that Adam has to live with his bully. The bully sleeps in the next room. It is not like he just sees the bully on the playground. He sees him all day! Everyday!
I love it when they are sweet to each other and when Adam squeals with delight before we walk into John's room after his nap time. I love it when John tries to make Adam laugh. I am really looking forward to the future, somewhat naively though since I have never had to deal with real sibling rivalry. Hopefully it will all be worth it in the end.
Dave doesn't know I am posting this picture. He is going to be mad when he comes home from work :) haha!
Bits and Bobs:
- We had a good but uneventful Easter. This is one of those holidays that creeps up on me when I wish that I spent more time planning for it. I want to talk about it with John more and do more meaningful activities. Thankfully, John was able to recite what Easter is all about, even though he can't really comprehend it yet. Hopefully I will get my act together better next year.
- Adam is just a few weeks shy of his first birthday! So we are beginning the weaning process. This is huge for me friends. He still nurses four times a day but yesterday I just cut out one feeding and gave him milk in a sippy. He wasn't too thrilled but I am not backing down. It's time to be done!
- John is still doing really well in swim lessons. I love to swim so it is great to see him enjoy it too.
- Dave just won a nomination to go to Washington DC for a few days (not going to post when since this is a public blog) with the wing commander to do some official stuff. Sorry for no description but he keeps saying, "it's not a big deal!!" so I can't get any more info out of him.
- Tonight Steve Carrell leaves the Office. We have really grown to like that show and his character is so funny (albeit crude at times, which is bothersome). I think I will probably cry. I know that sounds lame but it is true.
- And of course the Royal Wedding! Yes I liked William when I was growing up (who didn't???) so how funny that he is marrying a girl named Kate who also has brown hair? She is just like me! (that is a joke people)

I always love your posts! Had no idea you were an only child. We watched parts of the wedding. Kate looks like you! Good luck with weaning--be strong!
Isn't it awesome to watch siblings interact? I wish I could document it all for them so they could view it later. So neat! Happy weaning!
And congrats to Dave- very cool! Hope he enjoys DC.
Love this. It's so much fun to watch our kids grow up with siblings (being only children ourselves). And you're the REAL princess Kate, at least in my book :)
