Adam
We had Adam's evaluation today. They did a complete evaluation, that is, they looked at all areas of his development not simply his gross motor skills. He scored normal for all areas except the gross motor skills. And in that area they said his development was on a 7-9 month level. That felt like a punch in the stomach. 7 months? I think they have a point but it is hard to hear that. The physical therapist there said his core muscles as well as his hips are pretty weak. It is funny because whenever I change his clothes and see his poochy stomach I always tickle him and say, "you need to hit the gym!" Well I guess that is the truth!
She gave me some exercises to do with him to strength those weak areas, and they are going to put in for regular visits to the PT. The paperwork could take awhile so that is a bummer as I am anxious to get started.
I think I feel sad about this because it seems like it will be a long long time before he walks. Maybe not, but probably. I know there are far worse things in the world that could be happening to him, but it is still a bit tough when he isn't developing in a normal pattern.
So that is where we are! Thanks for your concern.
Cheers!

Thank you for the update that I'm pretty sure was difficult to write/share. We will keep you all in our prayers.
Oh friend, I know that must have been hard to hear...and equally as hard to share. As Mama's, we just want the best for our children, and it's always difficult when things just don't turn out the way we think they should. Thanks for trusting us with your struggle. I'll definitely be praying about this issue...for you & for Adam :) Love you!
I know it is hard dealing with things that are "not the norm" with our children. I've been there and send you BIG hugs!!! Kaden didn't walk until he was 17 months old, and he is now a crazy, running all over the place 4 1/2 year old. Prayers for yall!
