| Family Shot |
Well here we are in the middle of summer! Those pictures above were taken by my great friend Tara when she was in town. We finally got some family pictures... the last ones we had were when John was 6 months old! Time to update the picture frames.
Things here are going well so far. As I have mentioned before, we had a rough summer last year because of Adam being so young and it being so hot... we were just trapped here most of the time. I couldn't take Adam swimming with us so it was just miserable. I was optimistic that this summer would be better, and so far it has. John is a good swimmer now (no floaties!) and Adam will tolerate the water so we are far better off than last year. We have had several friends who have let us use their pools so that has been nice too.
Last night the ladies in our squadron hosted a farewell for the outgoing Commander's wife. She has been so great. Some of you may not know, but we are part of a brand-new squadron here. So this is the first Commander and Commander's wife and they have had to start everything from scratch... on a Navy base (meaning, everyone around us is doing things differently). They have been great and worked really hard, and I think we have a such a close-knit group of wives because they have worked hard to make it that way. And by the way, it is so neat to be a part of a new squadron, because we can set our own traditions and really set the tone for how we hope things will be done in the years to come.
Our ladies prayer group continues to go well. We meet bi-weekly and drop the kids off at one house (with a few babysitters) and the ladies meet at another house. It has definitely grown us ladies closer together, and hopefully encouraged us to seek the Lord in prayer more often.
On a negative note, my back has been killing me lately. So much so that I went to the ER a few nights ago because it was awful. I thought I had a slipped disc or something. Turns out it is just a muscle thing and i got some good medicine to help. I am curious to know if any other moms whose kids are ages 0-2 have had a lot of back pain?
We take Adam to the physical therapist next week to have his gross motor skills evaluated. Hopefully they can shed some light.
Well I did everything I could to keep this post from being in the "bits and bobs" format but I guess it ended up that way! Oh well!
Cheers!

I always love your 'bits and bobs' posts :)
Kate- Great looking family-- and you look like you are in great shape, too!
Some of my biggest back episodes have been when my kids were about 2 months old - still small so I don't think they bothered me much, but the repetitive bending and up and down did me in. It's been better as they got older, but I do think that it's a very common problem with moms - is it different than your hip issue, or related?
My biggest back problems were when the girls were 1-2 years old and I ended up carrying them a lot. I was in PT for a year which has helped A LOT. When the pain starts, I hit my PT exercises and it keeps it at bay.
Yes! I'm getting ready to start PT. I mostly hurt in the morning so I changed the mattress with the one in the spare bedroom, then I flipped the mattress, then I got a new pillow...I finally talked to the doctor.
