Since Dave had to go away for such a long business trip, we needed some good family time as soon as he returned. We took a week-long holiday up to the Lake District, a beautiful section of northwest England. We were able to book a self-catering flat on the marina at lake Windermere which was so perfect. We had a ton of space for John (including his own room) and we didn't have to pay for the heat!!! So I cranked it!! Sorry for all you environmentally concious people out there but I like to be warm.

We were blessed with great weather which is a big deal because the Lake District is known for rain. We hiked around Windermere and then up near Keswick in the northern portion of the district. Each afternoon we managed to make it to Costa Coffee to enjoy some nice hot chocolate.

Here is a shot of us on top of a fell (also known as a mountain) by Lake Dentwater. It was so beautiful. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Rick Steves' for his helpful travel tips. Cheers!
