We've got an inchworm

Finally! Since John was little he never enjoyed being on his tummy. He always protested when we tried to give him tummy time. We still did it with him but there is only so much crying a parent can take. As he got older many well-intentioned friends and family would ask if he was crawling all over the place, to which we would shyly reply, "No. He isn't crawling." It was discouraging even though we know that not all babies crawl. I even came across a woman on an airplane who told me that babies who don't crawl probably have dyslexia. GREAT! Thanks for the encouragement!

Well just over the last few days John has turned into an inchworm. It started with him no longer protesting when we put him on his belly. And now he has started moving! See the video below. Dave has worked with him a lot since he got back from his business trip and I think that has been the catalyst.

I am sure that over the next few weeks he will just speed up. My days of being able to leave him alone for a few minutes are gone. Right now he is churping away in the pack-n-play.

Cheers!

Congrats John..the beginnings of independence! Kate - get ready for life as you know it to change. You will no longer be able to leave the room. Just kidding. What a big milestone!

He's the cutest inchworm ever! Don't worry about the not crawling!!! Holly didn't crawl until she was 8 months. She just sat there and didn't really move. When she finally did start crawling, she went from nothing to racing across the floor within just a few days. Now she is already tired of crawling and has moved on to standing/cruising. Many babies just skip crawling and go strait to walking!

The fun is about to begin. Remember Noah never crawled and didn't walk till he was 15 months. He is fine and he can read!
