As I have said before, John loves girls. He doesn't try to dress like one or act like one, he is just
fascinated with them when he sees them. He talks about girls, prays for girls, and loves it when they come over. Recently we received a catalog in the mail from Land's End Kids. Inside there are many pictures of girls, some of which are sporting bathing suits. I had left the catalog on the kitchen table and he wanted to look at it while he was eating breakfast. However, he began to always ask for the catalog so he can look at the girls while he eats. At first I thought it was cute but then on day two of his obsessive catalog watching, I decided to hide the catalog and thankfully he has forgotten about it. I am taking the opportunity to talk to him about how special girls are, how we need to love and be nice to girls, and we also pray for his wife that he will love and cherish her as much as the girls in the catalog.
On St. Patrick's Day we hosted a party for the squadron wives and kids in the afternoon. We had a great turnout and it was lots of fun. I planned a St. Patrick's Day craft for the kids to do, but most of them would rather eat the treats and run around then sit and do crafts. That made me feel so good! I used to fret that because I wasn't a crafty mom, I was not a good mom in some respects. Now I see that crafts are mainly a waste of time at this point for John as he and his buddies would rather just be together.
Yay. But it is not so cool that I spent all this money on craft supplies. I should have spent it on more cupcakes.
Cheers!

That is funny about the magazine--remember that toddlers love repetition and he probably was seeing the magazine for the first time each time he actually looked at it. And I bet you could keep those craft supplies for when he's older :)
Ha ha, that is too funny about John looking at the girls in the catalog. Holly loves to look at cats in magazines so hopefully that's not a sign that she's going to grow up and be a crazy cat lady! I'd much rather have a son who grows up to like girls than a daughter who grows up as a hoarder with a house full of cats ;)
