My 31st birthday was on May 17, so Dave got me a really nice cake from a fancy bakery here in town. As you can see below, he had a picture of the boys put on it. It was really good... too good... I had to give a huge chunk of the cake to our neighbors because I would eat way too much. It was very thoughtful of him and I loved it! Although we both felt weird eating the picture of the boy's faces. Dave took the day off for my birthday so we were able to go out to lunch, go on a nice walk, and of course enjoy the cake.
- Dave just got back from his trip to D.C. While he was there he met with his friend Tim to discuss some options for him if he were to get out of the AF next year. We don't know what will happen, but we have to begin discussing our options. I can tell you that initially it flooded me with a lot of anxiety. How funny that I worried about marrying an AF guy (and getting into the military lifestyle) and now I wonder how we will function outside of the military. What will I do without that ID card? I am not saying I don't want to get out, it is just a very different world out there. I am reminded how one of my friend's who's husband was getting out of the AF last year, she got on anti-anxiety medication during the process. I can understand that now!
- News with John: he continues to love Blue Angels, volcanoes, Little Einsteins, pudding, and his "girlfriends" Madison and Kismet. I took him to the beach by myself last weekend and we got pulled under by some waves two times, one right after the other. He was pretty shaken up and I hope that he is able to put it behind him. The surf can be very rough around here.
- Adam is now weaned! Yay! He is doing well with his sippy cup and we are so grateful for it. He is starting to pull up on us (yanking our shirts to help him stand up) so we are encouraged by that. We have the developmental assesments this upcoming month. Hopefully he is just slow at developing in this area.
- Now that Adam is weaned, I have started my medicine for my hip. Yay! However, after the first week of feeling sick to my stomach all day, I have had to get off the meds. Discouraging. And I always thought I had a strong stomach, but not strong enough I guess.
- Thank goodness the Bachelorette is back on.
- I am putting together a cookbook for our squadron. For you Bolar ladies, it is much like the one we had in England. We have 270 recipes and it looks like it will be a hit. There have been a few snags along the way, and some issues I had not thought through well enough, but overall I think it will be a good thing.
Cheers.
