This is how he starts all his sessions. On the ball doing some core strengthening work. Notice the big ace bandage wrapped around his middle. This is to get him to tighten those areas. Don't be fooled by the smile. A lot of times he cries and clings to me during these sessions. Jeannie, his therapist, does a good job of trying to make it fun.
Working the obliques
And the other side. Notice all the play equipment in the back. That is where John keeps himself occupied while we are working with Adam.
Now she is trying to get him to stand up (and strengthen his hips and legs) by having him reach for bubbles.
That was the last picture I took before the meltdown phase of the session came. Adam has started his toddler years by throwing fits now and then. So we didn't get much done after this time. Oh well!
Other bits and bobs:
- Besides "mama" and "dada" Adam has his first word: Amen. One night after praying, we said, "in Jesus name" and he responded with "Amen." It was (and continues to be) very cute.
- John is now taking tennis lessons. They have drop-in, $5 tennis lessons after his swim lessons. He enjoys it and is doing well.
- John's new favorite word is "provolone." If you say it he laughs like crazy.
- I am continuing in my PT and it is going well. I am getting a compression belt to wear around my hips most of the time now. Trust me, it is so cool looking, it is sure to become the latest fashion trend :) But I don't care... if it makes me feel better then that is all that matters. The PT also noticed a split in my abs called diastasis rectus abdominous. Pretty common in postpartum women. This could also be what is causing some of my back pain. Fun!! I am so glad I have a good PT this time, I am grateful for her care.
- School starts for us after labor day, until then we are just enjoying the rest of the summer... when I say "us" I mean me and the kids... Dave can't stand this heat. I don't blame him. He has to wear a flight suit all day.
